Student’s living in Halls of residence may be covered at a basic level for their contents.  Some halls of residence bulk buy contents insurance for their students. 
It may also be possible for students to be covered for contents insurance by their parent’s house and contents insurance policy.  This is often a very cheap option for students, but requires close inspection of the existing policy to check firstly that they are covered and secondly that in the case of anything needing replacing the payout would be sufficient to cover the replacement cost.
